Rhodes Airport - Diagoras Airport
The Airport of Rhodes, is located just north of the village Paradisi, on the West coast of the island and in distance of 15 km (10 miles) from the city of Rhodes. The driving time is about 20-25 minutes. This airport is also known as Diagoras Airport. Facilities at the airport include ATM's and money exchange, shops, cafes and food/snack stores.
There are no conference or business facilities at Rhodes Diagoras International Airport. Facilities for disabled travelers are basic. There are toilets for wheelchair users.
It first started to operate on 28th June 1977, replacing the outdated airport which was located a couple of kilometers towards the eastern side, in the area of Maritsa, and that today is used by the military. The aircraft parking floor covers a total area of 110.600 square meters with a capacity of 1700 passengers.
In December 2015 the privatisation of Rhodes International Airport and 13 other regional airports of Greece was finalised with the signing of the agreement between the Fraport AG/Copelouzos Group joint venture and the state privatisation fund. According to the agreement, the joint venture will operate the 14 airports (including Rhodes International Airport) for 40 years as of autumn 2016.
Rhodes airport is open all days and all hours of the year. It is a small and very busy airport especially during the summer season and we suggest to pre book your transfers before your arrival to avoid long lines.
